Camps

Eastbourne has a comprehensive Camps / Outdoor Education program which develops students' independence, initiative and social attitude throughout the Primary years,

Year 6 students attend a week long bush initiative camp in east Gippsland called "Coonawarra". Features of this camp include horse riding, watersports including canoeing and raft building and also a range of challenging initiative activities.

Year 5 students attend a 4 day camp to central Melbourne staying at the Urban Camp near the Zoo.  Features of this camp include relying on public transport (tram, train and bus) and visiting a large number of city icons - which have been studied prior to the camp in classroom activities.

Year 3 & 4 students attend alternate camps over a 2 year rotation period.  These camps are based at bush camps which specialise in the provision of initiative and adventure activities for 9 and 10 year olds. Features of these camps include ropes course, giant swing, flying fox, archery, orienteering, bush cooking, bush walking and group based initiative activities.

Year 2 students attend a camp at Shoreham called "Ikuka" with children spending 2 full action packed days. A number of fun activities provide children with new challenges, activities which require a group approach and also some personal challenges. Some environmental activities based around the study of  minibeasts is also a focus of the camp.

Year 1 students attend an afterschool / evening program where students work together in co-operative groups, participating in activities that involve a group focus. Staying at school for an evening meal when darkness is setting is a simple setting that provides great excitement for children of this age group.

Prep students always look forward to their special night, their Christmas "Prep Graduation" dinner and night. This is a lovely way for our prep students to join together for an evening, share some fun activities and also a meal served by their teachers and some of their Prep Buddies.
