Each Summer the students in grades 3 to 6
have the opportunity to be involved in a Beach Awareness / Beach safety
program.
The children are bussed to a local beach
where they are involved in a number of different beach activities
including paddle boarding, snorkeling, rescuing techniques, riding a
'sea biscuit' behind the police speedboat and general activities to
increase awareness and confidence when swimming in the bay.
The children are also involved in special
lessons at school which concentrate on safety aspects such as
identifying a rip and how to deal with being caught up in a rip.
The Senior Sub School children usually
combine bike riding when they are involved in the Police Boat program,
giving a broad base to their Outdoor Education activities. |
